Mental Health Matters more than anything! Invest in it today to be the best you can be!
What is one thing you want to do better?
What is one way you would like to feel better?
What is one thing you could do for yourself that you enjoy?
For today, I’m going to (1) share with you three very practical ways I actively nurture my mental health, (2) share my favorite items And tools I use for each, and (3) let you know how each one helps me.
Everyone is unique so what works for me may not be your thing, but if it’s not, it may spark an idea of something that will better suit your needs!
Nurturing our mental health is one of THE most important things we can do every day. It makes us do everything else better! And you’re worth taking care of!
This isn’t just for those of us with “labels” on us– Mental health care is vital for all, but those of us with our lovely titles tend to require a little extra and that’s okay!
1) One thing I continuously want to do better is remaining calm and keeping my mood more stable for myself and for those around me. This is a tough one, especially when the kids are having the 10th meltdown of the morning, someone colored on the couch… again, and I have endless things on my to-do list! *Deep breath*
So here are some things that help me:
1. MINDFULNESS AND GROUNDING
I cannot even express how grateful I am for the counselor that introduced me to this! Anyone can do this, it just takes some consistency and practice! And it’s quick. This can take up as much or as little time as you choose! And you can integrate it into your daily life! Am I perfect at it? Abso-freaking-lutely not! But it helps.
I highly recommend learning about mindfulness and starting today if you want a better life! Here are a few essentials to get you going…
The above book will teach you everything you need to know about mindfulness! YES!
If you have anxiety, this book is for you!
If you have depression, here’s one for you!
2) I have been on a search recently to find natural products for improved health– mental health, emotional health, physical health. I have done a ton of research and have been so happy to find that there are some really affordable options that I can use to help me feel better both physically and emotionally. Here are a few of my top choices for myself.
*Always consider that you are unique, consult with your doctor, and be sure not to discontinue any medications that are working well for you*
2. NATURAL REMEDIES
This product has helped promote improved mood and it helps with SO much more than just that. After much reading, I decided to give it a shot and I have been very pleased with it.
Essential oils are much more powerful than a lot of people realize. And for me, if it helps, I’m in!!! This blend is phenomenal!
I cannot even express to you the powerful health benefits of this God-given plant — HEMP! From CBD Isolate to hemp oil to CBD salve, the benefits are unbeatable. You see, we have a dormant system in our bodies — the Endocannabinoid System! When hemp products are used daily for 4 weeks, the system is awakened and we are able to help our bodies reach their full potential!
3) Sometimes in life, we are so busy taking care of the immediate needs and mindlessly doing the daily grind, we forget to do what we enjoy! And if you’re like me, you may have even forgot what you enjoy! I challenge you to find something that makes you happy and dedicate a little bit of time focusing on doing it! So here is my #3..
3. DO ARTS AND CRAFTS
Not only will this craft be a fun time for you, this will be something beautiful and personal that you can look at every day! Surround yourself with beautiful things. You deserve it!
Don’t feel silly… adult coloring books are truly relaxing and refreshing! I have several. This set is especially awesome because it is all you need in one!
I love to paint. I didn’t really know this until my PTSD diagnosis! It’s helped me with so much stress— scripture painting, affirmations, quotes, pictures I love like lotus flowers and mandalas— it really is so calming!
There are so many ways to take care of your mental health— I could seriously go on and on! I’ll share more of my favorite activities and helpful items as we go, but this is a fantastic start!
If the items and ideas I shared aren’t your thing, take some time to think about what may work for you! YOU are worth investing in. And no matter how it looks for you, as long as you’re moving forward, that’s all that matters!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read about actively nurturing your mental health! Now what are you waiting for? Go take time for YOU!
